Profile

I had been involved with computer development and started taking pictures of the process for the record. And besides the work, I took pictures of seasonally blooming trees and flowers because I was so attracted by them. By giving my full attention to the object deeply, which I saw and impressed by, my eyes through my mind are opened. Thanks to the fine art photography, I learned to express my philosophy of life in the artworks. Since then, I have tried to sympathize with the broken or decayed materials’ feelings as seeing them with the eyes of my mind and express them in my artworks. Everything is vanity but that’s why they are beautiful. There, I feel the air of dignity. By capturing the transient nature of life in my photographs, I hope I can prolong their time even it’s a short time, and I also hope people can feel their existence.

Projects

What I’m always impressed by is “disappearing things”. They are abandoned, forgotten and eventually, they will be disappearing. Artifacts will be broken and eventually disappear. Animals and plants will be gone from this world due to weathering or disaster. In any case, many of things gain speed toward disappearing when they are considered to be useless. But only a few people think they are useless. For me, every dead leaves are beautiful. I think they are appealing for their existence loudly because they are ignored. Like the wind leaves a mark on somewhere after blowing, things that disappear try to prove their existence. Even though I standing in the middle of the COVID19, my thoughts haven't changed and I'm feeling stronger. I want to express their words in my photography.

Answers in my pocket /
I felt like I could hear something from my smartphone in my pocket. A while later, I took it out, and found several photos taken without noticing. All of them looked like a chaotic world where the direction of the incoming light was unclear. The photos, created by accident, made me realize that I need a light that points to the future. That’s the answer I crave right now.

Invisible Memory /
As I gaze around the waterfront, I realize that the shapes of the repeated “water surface" automatically flow into my memory. The image I really see looks different from my memory. By using the light, I may cut out the shape of the water surface at each moment, which is an “invisible reality.” Visible reality and invisible reality, distorted and engraved into my memory. Which one is more real, I wonder?

“Bai sema”(2021-)/ 結界
A special space that is sacred and must not be contaminated is called a " Bai sema " and a specific boundary is created to keep out dirt.I feel as if I have been purified in front of “Bai sema”, without any anguish or confusion. An invisible but mysterious force is acting on the space.

Water changes incessantly(2021-)vvv /
Every time I felt disturbed by a series of depressing news of conflicts, I wanted to go to the waterside. The clear and refreshing water and its reflections of dazzling light would revive my sunken heart and bring me back the time of relief and calm that I was about to lose. No fight will last forever. It will end someday. So splashes the water, that changes its shape and reflects everything and in any color.

Memory of the Forest(2019-) /
Deciduous and rotten trees sank to the bottom of the water, lost their shape, and sank deep into my memory. I prayed that life would continue to be inherited in this forest, imagining the beginning of reincarnation as a new source of life beyond the memory of decay.
