Profile

The influence of opposites and contrasting ideas is a compelling force in my artistic journey. The opposing forces within me are calmed by making work that binds the antithetical and balances otherwise confounding truths. Throughout my life, I find emotional depth most attractive. My craving for a more complete experience and deeper understanding of the world compelled me to go beyond the superficial surface of things. As I explore the precarious balance of the world we currently live in, I force myself to look at the bedlam and then retreat to the comfort and sanctuary of making art around it. I like to sooth the tumult by infusing it with beauty or integrating a solution within the work. Photography has rewarded me with the pleasure and perils of the need for this texture in my life. Through this medium, I can combine beauty, skepticism and hope by creating visual stories that often ask more questions than they answer but ultimately leave me with a better sense of social and philosophical balance.

Projects

I find a strange sense of comfort in distancing myself from the likelihood of the worst-case scenario. Playing witness to the potential remains of a now dead earth that was once verdant and life-giving is both horrific and calming.
In my vision, technically and spiritually evolved humans have long since found their way to a more flourishing world. From that new home they found it compelling and imperative to send back robotic archeologic teams (R.A.T.S.) to explore and report about the distant past on a world where now only the wind breathes.

最悪のシナリオの可能性から自分自身を遠ざけることに、奇妙な安心感を覚えます。かつて緑豊かで生命を与えてくれた地球の、今や死んだ残骸と化してしまった可能性を目撃することは、恐ろしくもあり、また心を落ち着かせるものでもあります。
私のビジョンでは、技術的にも精神的にも進化した人類は、ずっと以前に、より繁栄した世界への道を見つけました。その新しい故郷から、彼らは、今や風だけが息づく世界で、遠い過去を探求し報告するために、ロボット考古学チーム（R.A.T.S.）を送り戻すことが魅力的であり、不可欠であると考えました。
