Profile

I majored in graphic design at the university and learned photography at the same time. After graduating, I got a job as a designer at an advertising agency, and changed the job to the public relations of the optical manufacturer. Then, I have seriously started making photography artworks. I like to explore the world around me and my inner world. I learn what is there and deepen my thoughts. In my photography, My personal experiences often motivate me to start creating works. Eventually, it leads me to the fundamental theme of our life and I want to express what I think and get from there. Hopefully, I will be able to convey messages to people all over the world, beyond countries and races, which resonate deeply with souls.

Projects

I have expressed my experiences and philosophy through photography artworks. The loss of my family member and the massive sense of loss and sadness from the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 motivated me to create the former two of my artworks. I wonder how people will live when they suddenly lose someone special and how they keep going with the sorrow and pain. So, I made the former two of my artworks under the theme of “the power of sorrow” and “the meaning of lamenting and praying for the souls”. Deepen the knowledge and experience about the photography theme is an important process while shooting. I believe it will open the door to the next step of my artwork.

Starting a New Journey (2016-2018)
When my mother passed away, I was completely lost. I was caught by not only the feeling of sorrow but complicated feeling that I couldn’t express. I had no idea how I live with these feelings. More or less, everyone experiences “the loss” in their lives. While I have traveled places where my mother might have wanted to visit or the place where I could contact with the lost loved one, I kept thinking about the fundamental theme of “loss”.

OSHICHI (2014-2016)
One day, I came across a Japanese doll. I was so inspired by this old tragic love story that I started making a pilgrimage. During the trip, I saw the landscape, resonating with their souls. The scenery seemed so pure. It is because I’ve realized we carry the same fate of sorrow.
