The Portfolio Review of the FOTO FEST is the largest meeting place for artists and it is held in March or April in every other year in Houston. It brings 500 photographic artists and 150 reviewers from around the world. Following 2016, some of SAMURAI FOTO members will take part in the Portfolio Review. We’d like to share what it was like and what we got at the FOTO FEST in Houston.
隔年3～4月にヒューストンで開催されるFOTO FESTのポートフォリ
オ・レビューは世界最大規模といわれ、世界各地から500名のフォト
グラフィック・アーティストと150名のレビュワーが集まります。
SAMURAI FOTOでは2016年に続き、今年もメンバーが参加します。
当日はレビューまでの制作の過程とともに、レビューを受けた結果
や感想、今後の展望など参加者の生の声をお届けします。

SAMURAI FOTOメンバーによるFOTO FEST 2018 報告
The Portfolio Review gives artists the opportunity to present their artworks to the art experts and art professionals from all over the world. Many photographic artists want to get the practical results for the purchase of artwork, the exhibition, the invitation to the international photo festival or the publication of the photo book. We’d worked hard about a year or two for preparation for the Portfolio Review. We’ll be happy to share our experiences there with you. And we hope many people in Japan can be active internationally.

ギャラリーと契約して作品を販売する、美術館にコレクションしてもらう、国際写真フェスティバルへの招待、海外での写真展開催や写真集出版などを目指して、それぞれの専門家たちに自分の作品をプレゼンするのがポートフォリオレビューです。ここでプレゼンするためにはプロジェクトとステートメントをまとめる必要があり、参加メンバーたちは1年あるいは2年かけて努力してきました。どのようなプレゼンによってどのような成果が得られたかを皆さんと共有することで、より多くの日本の皆さんに世界で活躍していただきたいと思っています。
4 FEET FREE DISCUSSION AT PHOTO REVIEW
4 feet フォトレビューで自由なデイスカッション
“4 feet review” is the event at the FOTO FEST Houston. All the exhibitors set their artworks on the 120 centimeters wide table and show them to the visitors. We recreate the site this time and show you how it looks like. We want to have discussion freely about our artworks with you. We also look forward to any kinds of questions from you.
ヒューストンFOTO FESTの中で実際に行われている「4feetレビュー」は、一堂に介した出展者それぞれが横幅120cmほどのテーブルに自分の作品を並べて、来場者に見てもらうというもの。今回の報告会でも「4feetレビュー」の状況を再現して、作品を見てもらいながら自由にディスカッションしていただこうと思っています。
海外で認められるためのノウハウなど、さまざまな質問をお待ちしています。
