Murata made his artwork like a hanging scroll. The picture gives us an impression close to a monotone photography. To emphasize an outline, he added layers and used foils on the print. We can see a lot of delicate techniques used in his artworks.
村田さんは掛け軸スタイルの作品。モノトーンに近い印象があるが、輪郭だけを残したレイヤーと重ねたり、箔でプリントを重ねたり、繊細なテクニックがたくさん詰まっている。　

Sasaki exhibits only one photograph specially sized of 24 x 85 inch this time. We are looking forward to seeing his dynamic expression of the dam discharge in the photograph.
佐々木一弘さんの今回の展示作品は一点のみ。特殊サイズで42inch×85inchという大きさです。迫力あるダムの放水時の水飛沫がどこまで緻密に、大胆に表現されているか楽しみです。

Masuda is a photographer who always participants actively in international photo contests. He works on various photography projects. This time he made a LGBT themed artwork for supporting those people.
常日頃から海外フォトコンテストにも積極的に挑戦し、さまざまなプロジェクトに取り組んでいる精力的な益田さんの今回のテーマはLBGT。彼らを応援するための作品づくりに取り組みました。

This is Suga’s first challenge for SAMURAI FOTO exhibition. She learned how to write the statement and the printing technique. Through the experience like this, she must have acquired lots of things about the photography.
須賀さんはSAMURAIの写真展には初参加。ステートメントを書き、加工とプリントのノウハウを学んで仕上げました。出展することにより確実に多くのものを身につけたことでしょう。

An experimental photographer, Uehara’s photographs are full of surprises. His photographic objects are something around us such as quail eggs and moles tunnels. He takes the lose-up photo of them and makes them reverse. Then the scenery becomes totally like a universe planet.
ウズラの卵やモグラの巣など、身近にあるものを接写したり、反転したりすると宇宙のような驚きの風景になったりする。実験写真家である上原さんの発想はいつも驚きにあふれています。

For Hiroyasu Sato, this is the first exhibition. Before writing the statement, he summarized his thought about what the art was for him. This is his first step for making the artwork.
佐藤裕保さんも今回が初展示になります。ステートメントに取り組む前にまずは「自分にとってアートとは何か」についてまとめました。アート作品を生み出すための第一歩でもあります。

As the child of atomic-bomb victim of Nagasaki, Eda tried the heavy theme of the atomic-bomb this year again. The concept hasn’t changed but compared to the last year, the photo of the moment of the atomic-bomb throwing has improved dramatically.
長崎の被曝二世という立場から、今年も原爆という重いテーマに取り組んだ江田さん。コンセプトは変わりませんが、原爆投下の瞬間を描いた作品は去年に比べて劇的に良くなりました。

Harada took photographs of Japanese rice cropping. He uses Hosokawa washi paper, which is recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, for his print. He coated the paper with the aqueous coating agent.
原田さんは日本の米作りを表現しましたが、プリント用紙にユネスコ無形文化遺産である地元の細川和紙を使用するために水性コーティング剤で下地処理を施し、仕上げています。

This is Aoyama’s second exhibition. She expresses her unconscious feelings with scenery close-up photographs. Compared to last year, her statement and artwork have much improved.
自然の風景を切り取ることによって自分の無意識下にあるものを表現する青山さんは二度目の出展。ステートメントもプリントも初めてだった昨年に比べて、とても進化していると評判でした。

Hasumi, who always tries the new photographic expression, shows the artwork of platinum print. He made a dark room in his house and learned the technique from scratch. He is a true artist with the spirit of challenge new and difficult things.
いつも新しい表現に果敢に挑戦してきた蓮見さんの今回の作品はプラチナパラジウムプリント。自宅に暗室を作って、一から学んだそうです。新しいこと難しいことにトライする精神はまさにアーティスト。

This is Haga’s first exhibition. He shows the photographs of the Dani tribe in Papua New Guinea. His printing skill is much developed compare to the earliest days that he joined SAMURAI FOTO.
羽賀さんも今回が初めての出展になります。ニューギニアのダニ族の印象的な作品ですが、SAMURAIに参加したばかりの頃から比べると、本当にプリントを腕を上げられました。

Nakamura took photos of flowers, which she compares them to women living in the big city. Her printing technique has moved toward the high quality. She must have worked hard through the year.
今年も都会に暮らす女性を花に例えて表現した中村さんですが、やはり、昨年のプリントよりもクオリティがとても上がっていました。一年間の努力が目に見えるような仕上がりです。

Goto shows a photo of a line of cars at night in Tokyo. He tried various kinds of paper for the photo print and heard opinions about which one would be the best for his artwork. Finally, he could find the best one.
五島さんは夜の東京の車列を美しく切り取りました。何種類かの用紙を試した結果を持って来てくれました。そして、みんなの意見を聞いて、もっとも適した用紙を選ぶことになりました。

After the former project ‘Oshichi’, that got highly evaluated, Chiyoda has started a new project. Her photographs became more beautiful and furthermore, the work with plot is extremely impressive.
好評だった前作「お七」のあと取り組んできた新プロジェクトをまとめた千代田さん。美しいプリントはさらに美しく、ストーリー性を感じさせる展開もさらに印象深くなっています。

Even though he is not a member of SAMURAI FOTO, he visited us and showed his photographs. He shot some tools and made the pictures like a portrait. We got impressed so much.
SAMURAIメンバーではないので写真展用の作品ではありませんが、勉強会の見学に来た方の作品も見せていただきました。こちらは工具などをポートレート風に撮影した作品。いい刺激をいただきました。
