Andrey curated one-month solo photography exhibition of Yoshida in The Biology Museum of K. A. Timiryazev, and he checked other SAMURAI members’ artworks. Andrey and Yoshida talked about how to exhibit them at the gallery.

We got demonstration of Luminar 4 at our last month workshop. Kazuhiro Sasaki bought one and talked its usability.
先月の勉強会で使い方のデモンストレーションをしていただいたLuminar 4。それを購入した佐々木一弘さんが実際の使い勝手を報告してくださいました。

This one was replaced with a night sky with Milky Way. It seemed a bit difficult but there were no problems about lines of objects such as sky, people and trees.
こちらは天の川の見える夜空という難しい空との入れ替えを試してみました。空と人物や木などの境界線部分も問題なく、うまくいったということでした。

Hiroaki Hasumi’s project “SAMADHI” was appeared on a Chinese photography magazine, “Life”. The magazine had posted Shigeru Yoshida’s artworks once.
以前、吉田繁先生の作品が掲載されたこともある中国の写真雑誌『生活』に蓮見浩明さんのプロジェクト「SAMADHI」が掲載されました。

The publisher writes articles after understanding well the photographer and the project, Hasumi got a lot of questions from them before publishing.
作家と作品をよく理解したうえで記事を書いてくれる雑誌なので、掲載までにはたくさんの質問が送られてきたそうです。

They found Hasumi’s article in Lens Culture and asked him to post his project in their magazine. The publication fees will be paid for both digital magazine and printed one.
ネット上とリアルの両方ある雑誌で掲載料も支払われます。Lens Cultureの蓮見さんの紹介ページを見て、掲載を依頼してきたたそうです。

It was in 2014, Yoshida was invited as a photographer to the International photography festival, PhotoVisa in Krasnodar, southern Russia. This time he went there as a jury.
ロシア南部の都市Krasnodarで開催されている国際写真フェスティバルPhotoVisaに吉田繁先生が招待されたのは2014年のこと。今年はその審査員に選ばれました。

Many photography applications were from Russia but there were also from European countries. Yoshida saw artworks for selection and expounded his views on the tendency of the artworks.
ロシアからの応募が多いですが、ヨーロッパの国からの作品も含め、吉田先生がセレクトのために見た作品の傾向について解説してくださいました。

What the most different part between Japan and other countries is that many artists in abroad try to give a message through the artwork. They don’t take just a beautiful picture. Most of the artworks capture our hearts and give strong impressions.
日本の写真作品と違うのはどの写真も何かを伝えようとしていること。美しいだけの写真はなく、表現したいことがあるのが強く伝わってきました。

Koji Sasaki has been working on his new photography project with the motif of ‘cut- through path’ or ‘kiridoshi’ in Kamakura. He showed another photographs and those got more improved.
鎌倉に残る「切通し」をモチーフに新プロジェクトを制作中の佐々木浩二さんはさらなる撮影の成果を発表しました。

We had some trial members and one of them knew a lot about the history of kiridoshi in Kamakura. We enjoyed his story about it. The artwork that Sasaki thought the best matched with other members’ opinions.
勉強会の見学者に鎌倉の切通しの歴史に詳しい方がいて刺激になりました。佐々木さん自身と他のメンバーがいいと思う作品は一致していました。

We went to Cosmos one day and saw Kiyoshi Niiyama’s vintage photography prints. Although the photographs were taken 50 years ago, they seemed innovative and had depth. We learned many things there.
コスモスにお邪魔して新山清さんのビンテージ・プリントを拝見させていただきました。50年前なのに新しく、深みのあるプリントは勉強になりました。

We went to see Michiko Chiyoda’s solo photography exhibition, “MOTORROCK-KS”. Her new artworks were completely opposite from the former artworks. The motif was customized motorcycle and the texture of the printing paper was like cardboard paper.
千代田路子さんの個展“MOTORROCK-KS”を見学に行きました。これまでの作品群と真逆ともいえる作品でモチーフもカスタムバイクなら、用紙もボール紙のような質感でした。

She had been fond of riding a motorcycle and loved sci-fi novels. She had focused on human sorrows and created artworks as storytelling. But this time, it is fascinating to know her different side as a photographer.
もともとバイクに乗り、SF小説が好きだったという千代田さん。人間の持つ悲しみに向き合うストーリー性のある作品を生み出す作家とは違う面もまた魅力的でした。
