一緒に世界に挑戦しましょう
SAMURAI FOTO is an organization which has been established for the purpose of widely recognizing Japanese photographers around the world as being high quality artworks. To achieve the purpose, we have been working hard to make artworks for the photo exhibitions and have deepened exchanges with the world since 2012. We also bring up photographers who can be active internationally. Furthermore, we have joined a lot of activities in foreign countries aggressively such as photo festivals and photo auctions. We have got photo reviews as well. We have made a big achievement.
Our next goal is to build a cultural bridge between people in the world through the art photographs. As civilization and science have developed, the world has become convenient. People can travel easily and a speed of information communication gets faster remarkably. However, there are still many problems in this chaotic world. We have no clue how to solve them so far. What we need is to respect other people and understand other cultures. We believe that the art photography will fulfil the important role as a means of deepening links between people around the world.
Our group is still small though, we believe the expressive power of art photo. We respect each photographer’s individuality and work hard day by day. By connecting with people in the world, we try to contribute to create a global well-being. If you are interested in fine art photography, why don’t you join us and share it with the world? SAMURAI FOTOは、日本の写真がアート作品としてより高く、広く認識されることを目的に設立されたクラブです。私たちはその目的を達成するため、2012年より作品の発表や世界との交流、作家の育成を行なうとともに、海外のフォトレビューやフォトフェスティバル、フォトオークションなどに積極的に参加し、多くの実績を上げてきました。
そして、私たちは次なるステップとしてアート写真を通して世界の人々と文化の架け橋をつくっていくことを目指しています。文明、科学が発達した現在、人々の移動や情報の伝達は目を見張るほど早くなり便利な世の中になりました。しかし、世界では今も多くの問題を抱えており、解決の糸口さえも見えない混沌とした時代でもあります。おそらく私たち人類は他人への尊重やお互いの文化に対する共感、すなわち世界の人たちとの精神の交流がまだ足りないのかもしれません。私たちはその交流を深めるための手段としてアートフォトが重要な役割をしてくれると思っています。
SAMURAI FOTOはまだ小さな存在ですが、アートフォトが持つ表現力を信じ、作家ひとり一人の個性を尊重しながら世界の人々と繋がっていくことで、幸福な社会の構築に少しでも貢献できればと日々活動しています。そんな私たちと「一緒に世界へ挑戦したい、ファインアートプリントを学びたい」という方々の入会を心よりお待ちしております。

Aiming for the world contribution with photographs
「写真で世界に貢献する」ことを目指して
SAMURAI FOTO has been active for over 10 years this year (2024). As for day-to-day activities, we have held monthly study sessions in Tokyo, during which we have learned about prints and artist statements, and critiqued each other's work.
At the same time, we have taken our members to participate in international portfolio reviews in Arles in the south of France, Houston, Portland, and other cities.
As a result, the skills and mindsets of the members have stepped up, and both their works and statements have been upgraded, enabling them to hold group exhibitions in the United States, Italy, and Russia. We have also held individual exhibitions abroad.
In addition, they are now in the permanent collection of MOPA (Museum of Fine Arts Photography) in San Diego and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, the second-largest museum in the world in terms of collection.
After 10 years, we have grown into photo artists.
Our goal at SAMURAI FOTO is to "interact with people from different cultures, to experience mutual respect and appreciation among artists. We are more than happy to be able to spend much time by being invited to international photography festivals and holding exhibitions with groups of photographers from other countries. works have also been selling more and more in group and solo exhibitions abroad.
SAMURAI FOTOも今年(2024年)で10年以上の活動期間になりました。
日々の活動としては、月一回、都内で勉強会を開催し、その中でプリントやアーティスト・ステートメントを学んだり、お互いの作品を批評し合うことなどを行ってきました。
同時に、南仏アルルやヒューストン、ポートランドなどでの海外のポートフォリオレビューにメンバーと連れ立って参加してきました。
そのお陰でメンバーのスキルやマインドがステップアップし、作品もステートメントもグレードアップしたことにより、アメリカやイタリア、ロシァなどでグループ展を開催できるようになりました。また、個々に海外で個展を開催しています。
さらに、サンディエゴにあるMOPA(アート写真美術館)や、収蔵品数世界第二位のプーシキン美術館などで永久保存されるようになりました。
10年経ってフォト・アーティストに成長することができたといっていいでしょう。
海外でのグループ展や個展などで作品もどんどん売れるようになってきました。
私たちSAMURAI FOTOの目標は「異なる文化の人々と交流し、アーティスト同士で尊敬し合い、感謝の気持ちを味わう」ということ。国際写真フェスティバルに招かれたり、海外の写真家グループと展覧会を開催することで、そんな時間を過ごせるようになってきたことが何より嬉しいです。

SAMURAI FOTOでは「写真作品を通した国際交流」を目標に日々活動していますが、私たちと一緒に世界へ挑戦する写真作家を募集しています。アート写真作りを始めたい人から、海外フォトレビューへの参加や世界のギャラリーやフェスティバルへの出展を実現したい方まで幅広く募集しています。これらを個人で実現しようとすると大変な時間とネットワーク、ノウハウ、語学力が必要です。但しクラブ員同士で力を合わせれば、私たちの文化を世界へ向けて発信できる日本で唯一の写真作家集団として貴重な存在となります。また個人の作家としても世界との関係をつくるきっかけになれば良いと願っています。
