Passionate about photography since he got his first SLR camera at the age of 13, Ingo Bork developed his photography skills through books, internet blogs, and practice, practice, practice. His busy work life in the high-tech industry almost let him forget about photography. But with the birth of his second daughter, Ingo started using a digital camera. Soon he realized what great artistic freedom this technology provides without the need for a sophisticated darkroom requiring special knowledge not easy to achieve as an amateur photographer. His love for nature and its beauty is the dominant theme of his pictures.

インゴ・ボルクは、13歳のときに初めて一眼レフカメラを手にして以来、写真に情熱を注いできました。書籍やインターネットのブログ、そして何よりも実践を重ねることで、その技術を磨いてきました。ハイテク業界での忙しい仕事により、写真のことを忘れかけていた時期もありましたが、第二子の誕生をきっかけにデジタルカメラを使い始めました。
やがて彼は、専門的な知識を要する暗室作業を必要とせず、アマチュア写真家には習得が容易でない技術に頼ることなく、デジタル技術がいかに大きな芸術的自由をもたらすかに気づきました。自然とその美しさへの愛情は、彼の作品における主要なテーマとなっています。

Fog and Clouds along the California Coast
When the fog covers the coast, the tourists are gone and the locals enjoy the quiet bluffs and beaches. It is the time when I go out to capture the enchanted land- and seascapes of the northern California coast. The fog, usually very thin and bright, covers the coast in a special, soft light, and life seems to enter a phase of slow motion. My photographs are taken with full frame or medium format digital cameras and are minimally processed, trying to achieve tonal graduations similar to those possible with B&W film. .

霧が海岸を覆うと、観光客は姿を消し、地元の人々が静かな断崖や浜辺を楽しむ時間になります。そんなときこそ、私は北カリフォルニアの海岸が見せる、どこか魔法のような陸と海の風景を捉えるために外へ出かけます。霧はたいてい薄く明るく、特別な柔らかな光で海岸を包み込み、世界がゆっくりとした時間の中に入ったかのように感じられます。
私の写真は、フルサイズまたは中判のデジタルカメラで撮影され、最小限の処理のみを施しています。モノクロフィルムで表現できるような階調の豊かさに近づけることを目指しています。
